People often ask us why we decided to become foster carers. After more than 30 years of welcoming children into our home, the memory of what motivated us is still vivid.
Our journey began with a family tragedy reported on the local news. We were sitting together one evening, watching television, when a report came on about a devastating car accident. Both parents had sadly lost their lives, leaving behind three children who had survived.
That moment made us pause and reflect deeply. We asked ourselves: If anything ever happened to us, what would we want for our own children? The answer was simple: we’d want them to be cared for in a nurturing, supportive environment with people who could offer them stability and love.
That was the catalyst. It inspired us to pick up the phone and contact our local social services. From that moment, our fostering journey began—and as they say, the rest is history.
Over the years, fostering has brought challenges and immense rewards. We cherish the opportunity to make a positive difference in children’s lives, just as we once hoped someone else would do for ours.
